All That Glitters launched Cebu Inspired Collection for 2019

All That Glitters (ATG) recently had its annual pop up store in Cebu last November 14 – 15, 2019 at Holistic Coalition of the Willing (HoliCOW) Gallery, Crossroads Mall, Banilad.

Founded by cousins and co-designers Amanda LuYm and Cacay Moras-Server, ATG’s 2019 Holiday Collection highlighted as its muse their hometown, the Pearl City of Cebu, with pieces featuring classic freshwater pearls in modern designs.

Creative designer Amanda LuYM, whose photos of flora and fauna were on exhibit as well shares “As a photographer and designer, botanical studies have always fascinated me. As I have matured in my practice as a creative individual, I have found a desire to emulate nature’s sophistication. Great design and composition serve a higher purpose and I have chosen this as my life pursuit. I seek to study nature shapes and the desire of the material to become the best form of itself.”

The pieces are created not to be fleeting and trend driven, instead, purposely timeless and transformational as a respect to the craft and the wearer. It is a testament to local creativity, timely so with Cebu City having been recently designated by United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) as a “Creative City of Design”.

The exhibit also featured Jaime Chua’s collection of indigenous orchids. Chua is one of the largest collectors and staunchest conservationist of indigenous orchids in the Philippines. He actively propagates species that may disappear from the wild unless cultivated by pollinating, harvesting seed pods and growing them in his laboratory. He particularly specializes in the Vanda sanderiana, more commonly known as the “Waling Waling”, which is only found in Davao, Zamboanga and Cotabato.

A Meal for Heroes: Landers Superstore Supports Frontliners Fighting Against COVID-19

Our healthcare frontliners are bravely answering the call of duty amid the continuing rise of COVID-19 cases in the country. We are witnesses to their sacrifice as they endure longer shifts and forego breaks to attend to their patients’ needs.

To show appreciation for their heroic efforts, Landers Superstore immediately organized a relief program last March 15, 2020 to provide medical workers with free food and groceries. The Philippine Army was brought in to help in the distribution to key hospitals in Metro Manila, Laguna, and Cebu.

As of March 29, Landers Superstore, together with its partners Popeyes, Kuya J, 8990 Holdings Inc. Isla Sugbu Seafood City, and Majestic Restaurant, have been able to distribute 595 boxes of Landers Central pizza, 315 buckets of Popeyes Chicken, and 46 bags of groceries containing essential items like toiletries and snacks to 34 hospitals and 6 army checkpoints.

Some of the hospitals that received donations in Cebu are Cebu Doctors Hospital, UCMed, Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center, Perpetual Succour Hospital, Chong Hua Hospital, and Cebu Velez General Hospital. Philippine General Hospital, San Lazaro Hospital, Asian Hospital and Medical Center, The Medical City, St. Luke’s Medical Center QC and BGC, Cardinal Santos Medical Center, UERM Memorial Hospital, Jose R. Reyes Memorial Medical Center, Chinese General Hospital, Philippine Heart Center, East Avenue Medical Center in Metro Manila, and Perpetual Help Medical Center in Binan, Laguna.

Meanwhile, the army checkpoints that received donations are in Alabang, Susana Heights, Canlubang Exit, Zapote Service Road, Brgy. MacArthur Highway, and NLEX Camachile.

Each box of pizza and bag of groceries contain heartfelt messages of thanks and encouragement from the staff and members of Landers Superstore.

The project aims to reach out to more hospitals and checkpoints in the next few days as we reach the critical stages of the enhanced community quarantine.
