100-kWp solar power plant Uratex Cebu starts operation

RGC/Uratex Group of Companies, the largest foam manufacturer and distributor in the country successfully installed another renewable energy sourcing facility that will supply electricity to its Uratex Cebu Manufacturing Site located in Mandaue City.

The 100-kilowatt rooftop solar plant in Uratex Cebu was inaugurated Saturday, making it the third of the RGC/Uratex Group’s manufacturing sites with clean energy sourcing capabilities. The company started investing in solar energy sourcing facilities beginning 2017 with its 500-kilowatt grid-tied photovoltaic (PV) system in Alabang Manufacturing Site installed by PV2 Energie Philippines Inc., a German-based renewable energy company. Just last year, the company expanded using solar in Uratex Canlubang.

“There’s no loss in investing in renewable energy as it gives back benefits to the environment and financial advantage to the business. We always win if we think of saving the future while making the most out of the present resources that we have,” shared by RGC/Uratex Group Business Unit Head for Visayas and Mindanao Ms. Marvey E. Alcantara.

For Uratex Cebu solar power facility, the two immediate advantages that the system will provide is that it will contribute to the advocacy of using clean energy and at the same time will be able to save on its electricity cost by as much as 20%. The renewable energy system will help the company avoid 88 metric tons of carbon dioxide each year equivalent to planting 1,455 trees or recycling 29.9 tons of waste instead of dumping it to landfills.

“These past months, we are continuously expanding our market reach and we are happy to share that the products we sell are produced using clean energy. As we expand our reach to consumers, we are also exploring means to protect the environment,” said Alcantara.

The RGC/Uratex Group has committed to set-up solar panel facilities on its sites in Bulacan, Pangasinan, Iloilo, Davao and Cagayan de Oro in the coming years. ###
